The Vancouver Basketball Foundation™ awarded 2020 Para Sport Jumpstart Funding

Vancouver, British Columbia - The Vancouver Basketball Foundation™ is proud to be named a recipient of the Para Sport Jumpstart Funding to end 2020. The Para Sport Jumpstart Fund is being funded through the Jumpstart Sport Relief Fund – an $8M fund that will help our community sport and recreation partners across Canada to build back better.

COVID-19 has had a significant impact on the community sport and recreation sector and has exacerbated the barriers to participation for Canada’s most vulnerable children & youth. Sport & play create a sense of belonging unlike any other activity and they will be important tools to work through the trauma that COVID-19 has introduced. Through consultation with Para Sport community partners, participants and key stakeholders, it became clear that return to play plans have given little consideration to the systemic barriers to sport and play for many in our communities: children with disabilities, girls and young women, BIPOC children & youth, and families in financial need. The Jumpstart Sport Relief Fund prioritizes programs and activities that address these barriers.

The Vancouver Basketball Foundation™ is pleased to announce a new partnership with the BC Deaf Sports Federation to bring a reimagined 2nd Annual Ball For All™ Experience to the Lower Mainland. Stay tuned for more details.
