Vancouver, British Columbia - The Vancouver Basketball Foundation™ in partnership with the BC Deaf Sports Federation is wrapping up the fall sessions of Ball For All™, digital basketball classes to 40+ students from the BC Provincial School of the Deaf (BCSD). Originally planned to be in-person, classes were quickly adapted virtually to accommodate the Provincial COVID-19 Health Guidelines released in November.
Small group classes were safely led by Coach Megan Pinske over Zoom with an interpreter communicating coaching points in person and Megan teaching the fundamentals. Students from as young as Kindergarten all the way up to Grade 7 worked on foundational movement patterns, individual basketball skills and drills every Friday morning. Incorporating the ABC’S (agility, balance, coordination & speed) each class worked hard on their basketball progressions and fun challenges. We look forward to continuing working with BCSD students in 2021.
“The students were a delight to work with. Even over zoom I could feel their amazing energy! I was so impressed with their willingness to engage with the curriculum. I am so grateful for the hands on support of the BCSD staff encouraging and helping out in every class. I look forward to seeing all of the students in-person in the New Year!” - Megan Pinske
